An open letter to Ronnie O’Brien

By: Melissa | May 12th, 2008

So I’ve been reading a lot of analysis on Saturday’s game, whether we made tactical errors, subbing errors, or just plain played like sh*t. I haven’t got a clue what went wrong and I don’t really feel like sitting around thinking about it. But here’s the deal, Ronnie, you sir, are the offensive spark of this team. When you have it together on the pitch, I swear to effin’ god the entire team falls in line and the rest of us witness a unified scoring machine. When you are in control of the play, we see a tight midfield communicating like a hive mind who can effortlessly pass the ball forward to our strikers at the ready. I could go on but I think you get the point. So here’s my question to you, Ron (can I call you that? no? ok), what can we as fans DO to get you back on the good level? Wash your car? Cook you a lovely meal? Sing you a song? Apologize for previously questioning your paycheck (um, yeah, sorry about that)? Look, I’m only partially joking here. As a fan, I’d like to find a way to encourage us to rise up and get ourselves out of the cellar because I know we have it in us. We really aren’t the typical expansion team but if we resign ourselves to that status then in the cellar is where we will stay for the entire season. C’mon Quakes and Quakes fans. We are better than this.
