Cancel the Viagra prescription, we scored (twice!)

By: Melissa | April 19th, 2008

I guess we actually scored three times but a few of us in the bar weren’t sure why the Glinton goal got recalled (handball?). And after the recall, did it not cross your mind that maybe some asshole put San Jose under a freaky voodoo curse? Anyways, thanks to a simply fantastic shot from Ronnie O’Brien, we scored our first MLS goal and whatever bad juju disappeared – especially after Kei Kamara sunk another beauty in to leave us at 2-0.

So I hope this means we’ve finally found the cure for our metaphorical blue balls. I’d like to go ahead and quote what I think might just be the greatest song ever written:

Like a hotel room

I’m checkin’ into you

I’m diggin’ like a shovel

All the things you do

I dedicate those magical lines of poetry to our offense, who tonight, demonstrated a special kind of cahones. The kind only reserved for the likes of famous R&B singers who, despite ongoing legal troubles, still manage to write, record, and release songs containing lyrics where the protagonist expresses his burning desire to have sex with a woman to produce a baby girl. So to both R Kelly and the San Jose Earthquakes, I salute you. You guys have a sh*tload of balls. Keep it up.

Seriously, though, this one felt good. I didn’t think you guys sucked as bad as everyone was saying.

I always thought those guys could do it too - they just had to spend the first two games looking for their balls. Now don’t lose ‘em boys!

Liked what I saw on Saturday against a good team. I think we win this weekend against New York, setting up the REAL home opener against Dallas with a 2-2 record.

Absolutely no complaints. Midfield/Defense/Forwards were all tight. Cannon had some great saves. I hope they continue to play this sharp. In a way, they were all like a hive mind for 90some minutes. Great footy.
