From no news to a sh*tload of news

Wow, I really get the sense that things are coming together and the coolest part about it all is the fans are the ones really making it happen. Bigsoccer is blowing up right now with game reports and photos from last night’s match (like the one here from athletics68). Also, a few 1906/Ultras members, SSV, and Embele Awipi (from the Salinas Californian) are in the midst of putting together Center Line Soccer to debut in a few weeks. Also, I just discovered another Quakes specific blog: Soccer Spin. At this rate, the sanjose theoffside blog will just write itself. Awesome.
And last night’s game? Well, we lost but we didn’t suck. In fact, we did pretty well and there were some unexpected standout players - notably, James “repo man” Riley, Jason “vamos chivas” Hernandez, and Yuri “r.i.p. victory” Morales. Looks like the general impression from folks in attendance was: great defense, a little shaky in the central mid department, and our offense is still a work-in-progress. Apparently, both Kamara and Glinton didn’t have a great spark together but Morales let a dope-ass shot fly that barely missed the box. Here’s the cell phone video from darkstar10990:
Late in the second half, there were some mass-substitutions. Here was the lineup:
GK Joe Cannon (Preston Burpo, 46th), D James Riley (Chris Roner, 64th), D Nick Garcia (Taylor Graham, 46th), D Jason Hernandez (Jay Ayres, 64th), D Chris Pozniak (Greg Curry, 64th) (Robert Sandoval, 75th), M Shea Salinas (Adam Smarte, M Joe Vide (Eric Denton, 46th), M Ned Grabavoy (Fabrice Noel, 64th), M Ivan Guerrero (Tim Bohnenkamp, 64th), F Gavin Glinton (Yuri Morales, 46th), F Kei Kamara (Matt Taylor, 64th).
And here is a post game video wrap-up from Center Line Soccer:
Ok, I’m out for the rest of the day. I’ll pull together a post with Saturday’s “schedule” soonish. Yes that is correct – there’s a schedule.

Thanks. Contents may still break under pressure from time to time. I really like the sort-of grassroots efforts people are making around here for the team. Its pretty exciting stuff.
