San Jose, you’re ok

Back in the day, my friend and I discovered a show on the San Jose public access tv channel named “San Jose, You’re Ok” which basically consisted of two guys wandering around Silicon Valley looking for fun stuff to do. It was done in a loose news reporting style and one of the two dudes invented a few characters he’d play from time to time. Our two favorite characters were Narco Leptic (he would fall asleep in the middle of his on-air reports) and Claus Trophobic (German guy who would constantly complain how stuffy he was in various buildings). As you can probably imagine, we LOVED that show and watched it every week. And to top it all off, my friend even called the phone number they flashed on screen and Narco Leptic left a hilarious message on her answering machine. Brilliant.

(I’d like to add that my friend is now a kick-ass member of the LA Derby Dolls. Great minds, you know, and all that.)

Right… so the Quakes are back in the Bay Area and have their very first game ever against Houston this Wednesday at PAL stadium, in San Jose. For those attending the game, there will be a tailgate hosted by the Casbah nearby “directly beneath the 280 on ramp near the outfield of the adjacent baseball field” or rather, where the pointy arrow is on this map. I won’t be able to make it but hopefully since there are apparently 30 guys in camp, we should be able to pull a few more midfielders and forwards out from the lineup. I bet this is really going to be Salinas’ and Smarte’s opportunity to impress. Good luck guys!

As for the Kezar game, if you plan to attend and don’t want to use the online form to get your tickets, there are apparently three tickets.com outlets in San Francisco: Giants Dugout 3251 20th Ave. (Stonestown Mall), Giants Dugout 4 Embarcadero, and Giants Dugout 24 Willie Mays Plaza (SBC Park). Give ‘em a shot and hopefully you won’t wind up waiting around at Will Call on Saturday (cuts into valuable drinking time you know). Also, there’s a possibility the Kezar Pub will replay that morning’s FA Cup game during the afternoon (Its the FA Cup game that morning… right?)
