Coffee with Doyle?
By: Melissa | March 22nd, 2008I think many of us got a pretty interesting email in our Inboxes yesterday. Turns out, Soccer Silicon Valley has a new incentive plan for members to recommend new season ticket buyers. If we hit certain marks, we get a few gifts that I have to say are very original. So here’s how it breaks down:
Bring in $1,000 of season tickets, get an autographed photo with your favorite Earthquake. Not bad. Personally, you know I’d be all about getting a picture with Fabrice Noel β whether he comes back to training camp or not. And what about former Earthquakes? Can I get an autographed photo with, say, Jimmy Conrad? He is definitely one of my favorite (ex) Quakes. And if I seriously do this incentive thing, can I finally get that photo if Ian Russell ballin’ in his new car?
Bring in $2,000 of season tickets, get the photo and a ball autographed by the βhome team.β Wait, so does this mean when the Quakes travel to play, for example, New York, I can get a ball autographed by the entire Red Bulls squad? Tres Cool indeed. My dog would loooove to lick Angel’s autograph off that new toy.
Bring in $10,000+ of season tickets, get the photo, the ball, a private visit to an Earthquakes practice (aren’t practices open to the public anyways? or does this one include a locker room visit as well? ’cause… um… yes please), AND coffee with John Doyle. Coffee with John Doyle! Thats so cool. But how about throwing in a job offer to work in the sales department? For f*cks sake, you just brought in $10,000 for the club β they’d be idiots not to offer you a job. Also, as cool as Doyle is, I’m kind of thinking coffee with the GM might be a bit boring. For $10,000 of revenue, how about coffee with the U-23 olympic qualifiers streaker?
So I think thats about it for today. Don’t forget we take on New York at around 5:15. The stream is available here. Also, I spent some time in between tax hell last night checking out the youtube awards. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to discover Yuri Lane got nominated in the music category (but lost to Tay Zonday’s Chocolate Rain). A few years ago, I used to hang out with Yuri and his friends and I’ve seen him perform a few times. He’s a cool guy and a great artist. Here’s his video.
