Fingers Crossed
By: Melissa | April 10th, 2008I’m supposed to call Ricky’s later today and ask Ricky if his bar will show Saturday’s MLS games. Wish me luck.
Are you a morning person? Well you are in luck. Saturday’s itinerary begins at 10:30am right when the Coliseum gates open. I think basically all the supporters groups will be in Parking Lot A chillin’ and grillin’. And there will apparently be a pickup game between the San Jose and Chicago supporters to watch. Good times. Bring stuff to put on the grill or I think you may be able to purchase a hot dog or two off someone. Here’s a handy dandy map so you can find Lot A (or just follow the smoke).

Thanks to Allison for the map modifications. According to the Casbah website, there is a pre-game festival happening between lots A and D at 11am. No idea what that means. I’m hoping for a parade of some sort or maybe a rousing game of Marco Polo. The actual stadium gates open at noon and the official pre-game events start around 1pm.
Getting excited about the return of the Quakes? Unemployed? Hey! You’re in luck! The Quakes are hiring Security for the Buck Shaw games RIGHT NOW. And the pay is a whopping $9.00 and hour which I think still puts you at a higher salary than some of the players. I really do wish that was a joke.

Unfortunately us Chicago supporters might not have the numbers for a supporters’ match after all. Many of us were booked on ATA, and their collapse has meant rebooking on Southwest, with the flights only getting in two hours before the game.
Others are also concerned about further problems with the grounding of flights, as well.
The airline industry seems to be conspiring against Section 8’s trip to Oakland.

WORST NEWS EVER. I’ve got a friend showing up ready to play in the parking lot. If there aren’t enough of you, recruit him.
You guys brought it against NE last week. Time for you to show the expansion team’s supporters how its done (we may be a bit rusty).

Oh and by the way, I HOPE someone told you guys there’s a $3 Bart shuttle that will take you straight from the Oakland Airport to the Coliseum Bart stop (and walk cross the skybridge to get to the Coliseum).

Oh how I wish I could be there! I’d root for Yallop and the boys, but play pick up on Chicago’s side since they’ll be lacking players.
Sounds like a blast Melissa!!! I’ll see if I can catch the game on TV.

I talked to him last night. He’s gonna call Comcast and I’m supposed to check in w/ him @2pm. When I explained to him that folks plan to go all the freaking way from East Oakland to the Kezar Pub in the Upper Haight, he said I was making total sense to him. So hopefully thats a good sign for the rest of us.
