Ryan Cochrane is freakin awesome
By: Melissa | January 23rd, 2008I’m still on cloud nine today, after hearing the news we’ll be playing Houston next month at Kezar. For any Bay Area soccer fan, this is an event no to be missed. And the latest news is, the tailgate starts around 4pm either outside the stadium or inside Kezar pub (depending on the weather).
But now that the dust has settled a bit, its time to ponder exactly where does the average Bay Area fan stand when thinking about that team that continues to field ex-San Jose players and (for now) is still owned by AEG (considered ’round these parts mostly to blame for 2005’s Great Upheaval)? I certainly don’t have any answers to this dilemma but Ryan Cochrane recently gave his two cents to The Merc.
“They’re the Houston Dynamo now,” said Quakes defender Ryan Cochrane, who previously played in Houston and San Jose. “As soon as everyone can come to grips with that the better.”
Nice one Ryan, tell it like it is. I personally think this is a tough one for a lot of people and is going to play out on various message boards and blogs over the next few weeks. The general gist of it is this: how does one respect individual players and staff who gave their time and effort to the old Quakes yet still express their unhappiness with the Dynamo ownership group AND support the new San Jose team at the same time? Wow.
