Camps start… next week?
By: Melissa | January 22nd, 2008
According to Ives, thats when our MLS teams start their training camps. The picture on the left shows the progress so far on our new practice field (you can see Buck Shaw stadium in the background and thanks to SSV for the pic). Not to worry though since there are plenty of fields in the local area Our Gang can borrow in the meantime. And to the new players who are perhaps arriving in the South Bay right about now to begin their careers as Quakes, don’t be discouraged! Things may seem to be a little too “work-in-progress” at the moment, but I’m pretty sure the fans just don’t care. At this point, the team could be kicking tin cans around in a grocery store parking lot and we’d still show up to cheer you on.
And with both Ryan Cochrane and Joe Cannon happy to be back at their former stomping grounds, I expect their excitement and positivity to quickly rub off on everyone else. Here are some great quotes taken from a recent interview the Santa Clara University paper:
Cochrane: “It’s exciting for the area,” he said. “It’s exciting to be one of those guys who gives back to San Jose.”
Cannon: “I think coming back to the Bay Area is something special,” said Cannon. “I want to uplift the legacy of the Bay Area and get it off on the right foot.”
Wow – feel the love (seriously). Ok everyone. Its apparently a slow news day today but I do expect we’ll hear about a new acquisition from overseas this week or next… or when I hit publish on this here thing.
