Wow we lost but that was so much fun
By: Melissa | April 12th, 2008
I’m not entirely sure how many hours we wound up tailgating on that effin pavement in the effin parking lot. Whatever. Pictures should be coming soon. I’m still a bit drunk so here’s the game analysis I can pull out of my drunk ass right now: Shea Salinas and Ryan Johnson are our outside midfielders. No argument. Lets keep O’Brien and Corrales together in the middle. That teensy little line-up change works. And I refuse to make any comments right now about A) our striker situation or B) that Salinas not-goal. I will say this though, I was right in front of the Blanco bunny hop. And when he did it, myself and everyone around me completely lost it. Magic I say. Now thats a Designated Player.
Ok, one gripe. The O’Brien passes. WTF? And how many yellow cards do you think Ryan Cochrane is gonna walk away with this season?

You won’t comment about the Salinas non-goal, but I will.
Oh my God.

i was at the tailgate too, didn’t see very many other women there (and i’m assuming because your username is “melissa” that you are one… hehehe)
introduce yourself next time, i’d like to see a face with a name! i’m subscribed to this blog and i’m a newbie here in SJ but not a newbie to soccer. and i totally agree — losing sucks, but the game was cracking. o’brien needs to, you know, LOOK before he kicks. but there was some solid footwork out there on the pitch. we had ALMOST our shit together, except for the whole ball-in-net requirement.
i missed the bunny hop incident! tell me more.

I’m still looking for a youtube clip of the hop. I KNOW its gonna show up at some point.
I wasn’t at the “official” tailgate. Myself and a few others were a little ways away entertaining ourselves with our own little grill. We were having so much fun, I never bothered to move over to to blue canopies.
At one point I was yelling to O’Brien that this IS NOT BASEBALL and the people in the stands are gonna be mad at him if they wind up catching his passes.
Female Quakes fans gotta stick together. We are such a minority (sorry Cannon, I know you said the opposite but I’m not seeing it). I live in Oakland and am often posting info on places my friends and I go to watch games and stuff – but those places are usually in the SF Bay so I don’tknow if thats too far for you.

i live on the sjsu campus, and my automobile is tied up in that infamous parking situation we have going here. so yeah, east bay is a bit far without a car. but certainly say hello during any coliseum games… just ask all 4 women at the tailgate and you’ll eventually stumble on me.

Myself and a few carless others have the same problem getting to the Santa Clara games. We’re trying to come up with some ideas now that Caltrains says they aren’t holding or adding any trains for game nights. Also, when the weather is a bit cooler, I think we will be wearing silly wigs.

The O-town vagabonds have put a nice product on the field. Not to worry – the wins will come for the Quakes. I posted about my day at McAfee as well at http://www.amandavandervort.com/blog Looking forward to your future postings, and of course future tailgating. Blanco’s bunny-hop must be clipped someplace…

amanda: Your blog rules. I need to chat with you offline about the WPS league. I wanna start up a WPS The Offside blog and totally need people to help with that.
