No Way, San Jose!
By: Ian | December 2nd, 2008
Shocker news coming from Steven Goff over at the Washington Post. Apparently, the Earthquakes have declined the option on Joe Cannon’s contract, with an eye towards resigning him for a lower salary (right now he makes around $200K a year). The only problem is that this makes him a free agent, and a club from Norway is already sniffing around. Obviously, this is a a stressful moment for Quakes fans. There are few players who epitomize the Quakes as much as The Joe does, and none on the current roster. He bleeds blue, parties with the fans when we win, and feels it in his gut when we lose. Oh, and did I mention he is a top-class keeper who pulled our (soccer) balls out of the fire on more than one occasion? Let’s all hope for the best. Otherwise we’ll need to start practicing our You’ll Never Beat Gustavsons.

(p.s. you’ll always beat Gustavsons). This is a bad move, SJ.

Wow. First the LA treatment, and now this. Poor Joe.
