Team Updates
By: Chris | December 9th, 2010
It’s been a few weeks, but there hasn’t really been much on the news front. These three sites offer up some good season reviews.

The good news from the first link is that there is an update to the stadium issue. The news is that the organization is trying to get some more sponsorship money to get started on breaking ground. Owner Lew Wolff has stated that the stadium should be open by 2013. I was hoping it would be unveiled in ‘12 but at least the team is working on getting their own specific stadium. Yallop has stated that playing in a borrowed stadium has an effect on morale and that getting their own “home” stadium will make the players feel better psychologically. I couldn’t agree more.
The other interesting tidbit is the partnership the club has fostered with Tottenham and their partner clubs, SC Internacional of Brazil, SuperSport United of South Africa and South China FC of Hong Kong. Doyle is heading down to Brazil in the next few weeks to scout some players. The club also holds frequent conversations with the scouting team from Tottenham. The Quakes are keen to bring in some new players for their squad in 2011. Positions the team is looking to reinforce are forwards to partner with Wondo, outside defensive backs, and a backup keeper for Busch. Now, they may not be looking to strengthen the club all with international players, but it’s definitely a viable option due to the club partnerships.
The club will most likely travel to North London for preseason training again in 2011. They did this at the start of the previous season and everyone said it was a great experience. Yallop and Doyle feel it was one of the contributing factors for the teams success this season. It’s good for MLS teams in general to play friendlies with teams from other prominent leagues, and with the team training in London, they will be close to world class teams throughout Europe.
