And the dancing? Midseason form
By: Melissa | March 24th, 2008So my co-worker just reminded me I am supposed to spend all day in the office today. There are a few new Quakes articles out there in internet-land and I’ll try to get something up about them after I get home. Until then, enjoy the highlights of Saturday’s game against New York courtesy of Fox Soccer Channel.
But one last very very important bit before I take off. After the Kezar game, I chatted with Shea Salinas briefly and my immediate impression of the guy was that he has a wicked sense of humor. I kept my mouth shut about it mainly because my second immediate impression was that he was incredibly stressed out about making the roster. Well, apparently Shea’s friends showed up to the Carolina games with signs saying: “Shea Salinas owes me $800” and “a drawn picture of the rear end of a horse with ‘Shea Salinas’ above it and an arrow pointing to the horse’s ass.” Bigsoccer user Tekequake was one of the friends and explains the signs:
Hey, I’m not a big soccer fan or anything, but I was one of those 5 kids in question. Before Shea was drafted, he was the president of our Fraternity. We were always out at the Furman games with our “Red Zone” flag and cheering on the team. But because he’s a brother, some of our cheers don’t always sound positive. “Shea owes me 800 bucks” refers to the dues that Shea never paid before leaving school, and the whole “horse’s ass” thing is an inside joke and traditional cheer that we’ve done for years. We were actually supporting him, he’s a good friend, and we wish him the best of luck.
Nice! Have a great Monday y’all.

maybe some of Shea’s stress comes from 2 more months of 5 classes on line to graduate in May. He was academic all american. Between trying to start and trying to graduate would stress anyone.
