Ronnie be here… (the aftermath)
By: Melissa | February 28th, 2008There are a handful of upcoming events I’m crazy excited about, high on this list is

and

Also, our Quakes finally putting together a potent OFFENSE and I think this is the year O’Brien shakes those pesky injuries and gets back to his “Dallas form.” And he’s going to do it all for us, the fans, because we are going to grow to love him. Nicholas at the Toronto FC offside blog, posted a fantastic video montage so if you are still skeptical, then head on over there, check it out, and start getting excited!
And the aftermath? Well, I think we can officially say goodbye to Fabrice Noel. I should’ve heeded Laurie’s warnings NOT to get attached to the trialists until they have real contracts. Unfortunately, one night in San Francisco put a face, a name, and an emotional attachment to the midfielder. So here’s my obligatory farewell youtube clip. I’ll certainly be paying attention and likely posting the details of where our Fabrice winds up next.
One last thing. I’m going to add links to my makeshift blogroll to the right as I discover them. Be sure to bookmark The Bay Soccer, which not only has a Quakes section, but also talks about anything else local + soccer (from MLS “to the smallest amateur league and even pick-up games“).

Fabrice Noel? Isn’t that the former Haitian wonderkind who was unfortunate enough to not be playing for the Haitian team with the biggest baddest supporters gang in Port-Au-Prince and becuase of that had some family member murdered for not transfering, subsequently coming to the US for asylum (while some of his family is/was still in Haiti) and playing for the Colorado Rapids. I think that the Rapids fans put a lot of effort in trying to get the rest of the kids family and helping pay the kids lawyer bills but I lost track of him after being cut by Colorado.
In short, if this is the right kid don’t feel at all bad about getting attached to him, its very hard not to. I kind of want him to resurface somewhere and hear some good news and he played for a team that is not mine and that I rarely watched.
