Taking a break

By: Melissa | February 13th, 2008

Firstofall, congratulations to Ramiro Corrales who just signed with the team. Whether he’s playing tonight or not, I have no idea.

Secondly, I’m taking a little breather from Quakes-land. This morning, I read some harsh words that reminded me of a few nagging thoughts regarding the team’s return and the state of the fans – old and new. I’d like to put it all down and get anyone’s feedback so maybe I’ll be able to do that in a few days. Also, I don’t want my excitement level regarding Saturday’s game to dissipate which is now happening very quickly. To put it mildly, I’m bummed out.

I’ll start here: please take a few minutes to read this bigsoccer thread and let me know what you think. Whether or not Ann Killion is for or against the Quakes, whats really bothering me is the general argument that when one points out an absurd or silly thing, that person is immediately disrespectful or copping attitude. I just can’t agree with that argument at all. Ugh - I feel there is a prevalent defensive attitude that pops up from time to time that shouldn’t exist among fans. Sigh. Again, I just need a few days to mull this over before writing further.

Tomorrow, I’ll likely do a bit of internet research and write up a little summary of what people thought of tonight’s game. Hopefully, that will give us some more insight into how the team is shaping up. Later.

I don’t read BigSoccer very often for just this reason. The Offside is much more civilized. :-)

(And by that I mean: No offense to regular BigSoccer posters. But you know what I mean.)

BigSoccer is fun to read. The passion there is exciting. But, as as with any popular place of that kind, you have to read some posts purely for entertainment. I’m just glad those guys aren’t running MLS. :)

Oh hey, thanks for the kind words. My little day break was good. And I picked up my new digital camera from FedEx. I’m ready and excited again for Saturday.
