Training Camp update
By: Melissa | February 12th, 2008Yeah thats right. I finally get to post one of these because there’s a for-realsies report from Tuesday’s practice. I’m going to ignore the part where this report did not come from a local sports news – much less a regular news - source but rather a fan… i.e. our friends over at the Soccer Silicon Valley blog. Sigh. Here are some highlights:
Ryan “hotpants” Cochrane is injured and won’t play in Wednesday’s game. He may be ok by Saturday. Its just a minor ankle injury so not to worry. (Do you like that? Hotpants? It just popped into my head but I think it works.)
Chris Roner is back and training with the team. Wow - is he out of retirement?
Other notable guys in camp: Taylor Graham, Eric Denton, and Matt Taylor.
Notable USL’ers in camp: Yuri Morales and Nic Platter (thanks to DuNord for the Platter info).
According to Cochrane, “It’s going to be a process. We all want to win now, but it’s going to take some time to come together.” So this loosely translates to: we may suck a little at first but that just means we’ll eventually kick everyone’s ass.
Shawesome Stadium renovations should be complete by April 12th. The first home game is May 3rd. Looks like there’s enough time to handle whatever problems that will inevitably push back that completion date. Good planning Quakes.
While in Argentina, Doyle found two players he wants to sign - both forwards.
He also confirmed the team is looking at Ramiro Corrales
So right now, SSV has photos up and apparently tomorrow there will be video interviews with Doyle, Yallop, and Cannon available to watch.
THANK YOU SO MUCH SSV.
In other news, if you plan to attend Saturday’s game, then by all means make it official by rsvp-ing to the facebook event! I see Joe Cannon already did so why don’t you?
