Well, I gotta say, we’ve got slightly inflated expectations for this kid right now because our offense is so weak. I think under different circumstances, he’d just be happily adjusting to MLS while *place experienced play-maker here* takes all the credit and does all the interviews. He seems to be doing alright in the spotlight. And he’s a noticeably better player than he was at the beginning of pre-season. Apparently, he completely beat himself up over the missed goal. I always tend to compare him with Sacha Kljestan. During his first year with Chivas (I know, out comes my bias) if I remember correctly, he ended his rookie season with a whopping grand total of zero goals.

Two thoughts.

First, did you hear him say how loud the crowd was? He said it was louder than even in LA. Good job you guys!

Second, I wish Galaxy fans would have more of this kind of attitude toward their players. Granted, big money players should make big money plays more often than not, but they are only human. And the young ‘uns? They just can’t perform well enough for anyone.

(That attitude from LA fans isn’t usually found here, but in a lot of other forums I read.)

Shea is going to do good things for the Quakes this season and in the future – I’m not too worried about it. He’ll redeem himself soon enough.
