Your Newest San Jose Earthquake: Darren Hu—Scott Sealy?
By: Sean | July 14th, 2008Um … what? I’ll be honest, I just don’t get this one. Because I’m so much better at linking to original sources than coming up with my own, I’ll just let Ives take this one:
Smart deal or act of desperation? I go with the latter. Why? Well, let’s see. San Jose isn’t making the playoffs this year and needs to focus on the future. By trading an allocation away for a player who is in the final year of his MLS contract, and who has stated that he wants to go abroad, San Jose just spent an allocation for a rent-a-player for three months.
Hmm…. k. Well, he is “only” 27, but if he really does want to go abroad, I really don’t get it. Then again, maybe Frank thinks he can convince Sealy to stay and help build the club. And to that, I only have two words: Clarence Goodson.
P.S. Hucks is official, visa pending. So … he’s not official? I dunno. Decide for yourself.

I guess we need Sealy to knock in the great setups from Huckerby? I think this depends on the size of the allocation – but if we’re still able to sign Huckerby, Lima, and another player, I’m not sure the allocation is that important.
What does our all-healthy starting 11 look like, then?
Johnson – Sealy
Guerrero – Huckerby – Lima – O’Brien
Corrales – Cochrane – Garcia – HernandezI think that puts a lot of pressure on Lima – not sure if there is enough speed in the middle of the park for that to work.

Aw, I miss that Clarence. You know who else I miss? Joe Vide. Good luck to that guy and thanks to him for being the first Quake ever to Facebook friend me.

DG (Don Garber?) – I think that is pretty close to what we will see, though it does leave Kelly Gray the odd man out, which is sad, but most likely true.
Melissa – works out well that Huckerby is #6.

That’s a bit unfortunate since Vide got pushed out because Gray came in. Now Gray (whose paycheck is – yikes!) might get pushed back into the reserves? I guess my only response is: don’t hate the player…
