Seattle joins MLS… time for San Jose to step it up
By: Melissa | November 13th, 2007Its well known that back in the day of just a few years ago, the SJ v LA rivalry was the biggest in MLS. Well, now that humanity is at the dawn of Earthquakes v2.0 (or perhaps 3.0, depending on who you ask), and with the news today that Seattle is getting a MLS team, its time for the long-standing passive aggressive annoyance that pops up from time to time between California and the Pacific Northwest rear its ugly head on the football pitch. Its only been a few hours since the news broke and already Seattle co-owner and expert come on down-er Drew Carey has thrown out the first punch; he wants a marching band. Alright Wolff, Doyle, and even Yallop, how are we planning to top this one? Carey’s taking MLS to a whole new level here and no-one can deny the awesome sight of a marching band in full, uh… march.
So what do we come up with? Rodeo clowns? Opera Singers? A halftime SRL performance? Leave your suggestions in the comments…

I really really really wish they brought this expansion to Portland, I mean have you seen the Timber Army? I can completely imagine a Portland vs. Seattle rivarly in the near future.

Definately not soon enough, I think its ridicously to look at qwest field and say yeah we can fill this up with 24,000 people or however many they will size the seating down to and not look at the Timbers and go “Oh why dont we incept them into the leauge.” Portland is a bonifed successful club with a rich rich history bringing that into MLS will bring so much more into this league.
