Here Comes Convey
By: Ian |Well, it’s official now. Bobby Convey is the newest member of the Quakes. As I said before, after initially being a little underwhelmed, I now think it’ll be a good signing. He’s only 25, meaning that he potentially could be a solid member of the team for years to come. Convey has national team experience, [...]
Back with a vengeance
By: Ian |The San Jose Offside is back from its holiday break, and all I have to say is: what happened to the Quakes while I was gone? Â The Cannon saga was thankfully concluded with The Joe remaining in San Jose as he should, but it definitely left a bad taste in the mouth of most fans. [...]
Who Are You To Doubt El Dandy?
By: Sean |… he’s a silent guardian … a watchful protector…
El Dandy Nandy has been nothing short of ill for the club this year. With Captain Garcia always looking for an ear to listen to his daily musings, Riley busy getting thrown out, and Eric Denton … I dunno, Denton kinda feels like Delaware to me. [...]
Darren Huckerby YouTube Extravaganza Part #3
By: Sean |Now that its officially transfer window open day, I can unveil my favorite Darren Huckerby YouTube clip. Granted, it was made by an Ipswich fan, but it is just too funny to not show. Besides, I dare you to try and get this out of your head for the rest of the day. [...]
Your Newest San Jose Earthquake: Darren Hu—Scott Sealy?
By: Sean |Um … what? I’ll be honest, I just don’t get this one. Because I’m so much better at linking to original sources than coming up with my own, I’ll just let Ives take this one:
Smart deal or act of desperation? I go with the latter. Why? Well, let’s see. San Jose isn’t making [...]
Darren Huckerby YouTube Extravaganza Part #2
By: Sean |This isn’t YouTube, but its still a must watch. Via the Norwich Evening News 24, Hucks took part in a 4 minute interview, as well as a lengthy article. Lots of meaty content to chew on, but let’s get one thing straight.
He loves babysitter. Not babysitters in general, but just [...]
Put Down the Canary, and Slowly Back Away
By: Ian |So here we are. Our beloved Quakes are on a sad, sad road that could lead us to a new record in offensive futility, even making the tepid Toronto side of a year ago look like an attacking juggernaut. The good news is that I’ve seen encouraging signs during this grueling road trip. The midfield [...]
The 10,000 Club (and other notes)
By: Sean |Congrats are definitely in order for Joe Cannon, who passed 10,000 minutes played with the Earthquakes. Coming into the season, Cannon had logged 9,261 minutes. Going into last Saturday’s match, he stood at 9,981. Cannon becomes the first goalkeeper to join the group. Other members include:
Richard Mulrooney (14,204)
Ronald Cerritos (12,382)
Wade Barrett [...]
Quakes Abroad Updates
By: Sean |Little update on Ivan and Kei as they work on conquering the world for the black and blue.
Guerrero played in Honduras’ 1-1 draw with Venezuela at Lockhart Stadium (R.I.P. Fusion). One article mentions Guerrero having a “cracker from 30 yards out”. Guerrero and his countrymates will take on Puerto Rico in [...]
More (gn)news with Gary Gnu
By: Melissa | It seems the Quakes weren’t going to let a silly little thing like the holiday weekend slow them down. There is quite a bit of news out today that should hopefully give the fans a few more reasons to stay positive about the team throughout the week.
Amir Lowery and Dan Benton signed with [...]
