Federico Arias didn’t work out and is no longer training with the Quakes.

Doyle is looking for “the right forward if we need one at all” which means folks like Smarte are still in the running (yay).

Doyle on the DP slot: “We’re looking to find our Donovan and Beckham, but first and foremost will be to have a quality team.” Ok, still no plans to trade that away. Nice.

Jurgen Klinsmann checked out an Oakland A’s practice and hung out with Billy Beane to “pick his brain” and presumably watch Moneyball in action. I really don’t feel this bit of news is going to impact the Quakes significantly.

There’s an 11am scrimmage this Saturday between San Jose State and the Quakes at Spartan Field (not Stadium). Its open to the public and (I think) free.

The Soccer Silicon Valley annual meeting is this Saturday at noon on the patio at the Downtown San Jose Britannia Arms. They’ll be talking about their Community Foundation and auctioning off seats to a luxury suite for Sunday’s Mexico v Australia game.

Kelly Gray is maybe probably going to get waived by The Galaxy meaning fans might want him here. I really don’t know what the future holds but I do know after reading Gray’s blogs on goal.com that he is the most boring blogger alive. Someone please take the computer away from him immediately.

Our Joe has another blog up at the official Quakes site. Boring he is NOT and the new entry is another winner – this time with a slightly bizarre overarching “third date” motif and most importantly, teammate awards! Head on over there to find out which Quake wins Joe’s accolades.

And on the topic of Joe’s blog, I’d like to point out that, when referring to Burpo’s move up north and quite possibly his own, he gives much love and respect to the ladies of this region of the state. He says: “Here in Nor Cal, the women are a little sophisticated and have some brains to compliment their beauty.” Thanks dude! Right back at ‘cha!
