The First Third Part #2 – 2008 vs. 2000
By: Sean | June 11th, 2008This week I will be looking at different elements of this year’s first 10 games, and how it measures up to other teams and past seasons. Check out part #1 here.
With only a point separating them after their first 10 games, the 2008 Quakes and the 2000 Quakes seem to be pretty evenly matched. Their goalscorers:
| 2008 | 2000 |
|---|---|
| Ryan Johnson (2) | Ronald Cerritos (4) |
| Kei Kamara (2) | Abdul Thompson Conteh (3) |
| Ramiro Corrales (2) | John Doyle (2) |
| John Cunliffe | Harut Karapetyan |
| Ronnie O’Brien | Dario Brose |
| Ivan Guerrero |
As a whole, I think our team this year is better than that in 2000. That team finished 7-17-8 in the lleague, with 29 points. However, that is over 32 games, so over 30 games, they would have finished with 27.12 points. We are just ahead of that pace.
After LA, we play four straight on the road. If we can salvage one point per game on average during that stretch, I think that puts us in a very good position for the second half of the season. After those four on the road, we play 10 of the remaining 15 games at home.
Hate Week will continue shortly.
