An open letter to Nate Jaqua

By: Melissa | May 16th, 2008

The Goal Seattle blog reports that you got out of your contract at SCR Altach and you are now back in Oregon, sitting on your ass, perhaps doing nothing (besides getting that Nats call up). Gardening? Catching up on Lost episodes? Who knows. I’m sure whatever it is, it’s personally very rewarding. But let me put an idea into your head: come back to MLS. Come back to MLS and reunite with the coach you had for like five minutes! The Bay Area expansion team that is trying can certainly use your goal scoring skills and the fans will love pointing at and cheering at your tall, skinny frame on the pitch. Now, those chumps up in the Pacific Northwest claim you are maybe waiting around to join the Seattle MLS team? Ok, how can I convince you they are lame and the Earthquakes are awesome? You know, you were my number one pick to join the expansion side this year and I was a little sad when I read about your move to Europe. Sorry it didn’t work out. But the whole situation doesn’t have to be a complete wash. Come to San Jose! Score loads of goals for us! You know you want to.

Why would he want to leave Oregon when he has a perfectly awesome team to play for here?

What. The. Hell. Wasn’t he doing pretty well in Austria? Unlike Joseph Ngwenya, I thought Jaqua was playing a fair amount and scoring some goals. This is breaking my heart.

Five goals in ten matches. If anyone knows why he left, I’d love to hear it. Quick internet search reveals nothing.

I read somewhere he signed w/ the Austrian team as a free agent. His dad’s a former pro (pointy) football player. Smart move Nate.
