Lets talk uniforms
By: Melissa | January 13th, 2008
This week, a few MLS teams released photos of their snazzy new kits for the 2008 season. San Jose unveiled theirs a few months ago to correspond with John Doyle’s hiring and our very own assistant coach made good use of his part time modeling experience to show off the new home kit.
I hope everyone has had sufficient time to warm up to the new colors cause I think that shirt is pretty slick. Although I’m not sure where the inevitable corporate sponsorship logo is going to go (any ideas?).
Now besides showing up to games in a freshly purchased San Jose jersey, what else can fans acquire to express their love and support for the team? Well, there’s always the Spanish version - Los Terremotos. Local Latino fans have been rocking the translated gear for a while now so I think the front office will eventually have an EspaƱol version of the new kit for sale.
And soccer isn’t just a sport for moms and their minivans. Any Bay Area native or long-time resident knows that San Jose gets stupid and dumb straight Oakland style. For the younger hipper crowd, I really think the Quakes should sell their own version of the hyphy hoodie. Its big, its colorful, and the the best part is, if the expansion team truly sucks, we all can just zip the hoodie up completely to avert our eyes from the horrors on the pitch while simultaneously expressing our support for the boys in our logo-rich clothing. See? win win.

Slick or not, the shirt should be blue, not black. It’s not the 90’s no more. And I will be disappointed if they actually don’t have more than one color of shorts, thats just wrong.
As for the shirt sponsor, easy: Good bye “San Jose”.-Lee

Are the away shorts blue as well? I should go check…
The bit that always gets me is: the away shirt says Earthquakes and the home shirt says San Jose. Shouldn’t that be turned around?

Anyone know when these new kits will be available for the general public to purchase? My soccer team is called Quakes in homage to them, and now that they’re back we want to get the matching shirts as well
Thanks!Posted from
